Wurzburger Residenz
By far the #1 tourist attraction is the Wurzburger Residenz. This enormous palace was commissioned in 1720 and completed in 1744. It is considered one of the finest examples of Baroque architecture in all of Europe. The grand staircase, the chapel, the Court Gardens, and the Imperial Hall are especially opulent. The Wurzburg Residenz is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Marienkappelle (St. Mary's Chapel)
Located near the market square, this late Gothic church stands out with its unmistakable red and white exterior. Marienkappelle is a fine example of a hall church, which means the aisles match the height of the nave. Construction of the church took over one hundred years, taking place from 1377-1480.
